Your first steps
Essendon North | Moonee Ponds | Telehealth
Starting
Coming to see a psychologist for the first time, or simply meeting someone new, can feel like a big step. It is natural to feel a little nervous. Wherever you are coming from, this is your first step with me, and we will take it at your pace.
Before we meet
Once you get in touch and we have had a short conversation, I will email you a registration and consent form to complete. It covers the practical things: confidentiality and its limits, privacy and consent, fees, cancellation, and Telehealth. You complete it before we meet, which frees up our first session for what actually matters: you.
The early sessions
The first couple of sessions are mostly about understanding what is going on, and from there we find a way forward together.
In person or Telehealth
I see clients in person in Essendon North and Moonee Ponds, which are only a short distance apart, and I also offer Telehealth, so we can usually find something that fits around your week. The day and time that works best is something we will sort out together when you get in touch.
Sessions run for 50 to 60 minutes.
When you are ready, reach out and we will start with a short conversation
Fees & rebates
I am happy to talk through fees when we speak, and they are set out in the forms I will send you. If you have a referral from your GP or psychiatrist, a Medicare rebate may apply. Some private health funds also offer a rebate for psychology, depending on your level of cover.
You are also welcome to see me without a referral.
If you would like to claim a Medicare rebate
If you have a referral from your GP or psychiatrist, along with a Mental Health Treatment Plan, a Medicare rebate may apply. You are also very welcome to see me privately, without a referral.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral?
You are very welcome to see me without a referral. If you would like to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need a referral from your GP or psychiatrist, along with a Mental Health Treatment Plan.
How long are sessions?
Sessions run for 50 to 60 minutes.
Do you offer Telehealth, and how does it work?
Yes. As well as in-person sessions in Essendon North and Moonee Ponds, I see people right across Australia by Telehealth. A Telehealth session is a private video call you join from home, or anywhere you have a quiet space and an internet connection.
Many of the people I work with find it a comfortable and practical way to meet, and a Medicare rebate may apply with a referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan, just as it does in person. If you are not sure whether Telehealth would suit you, we can talk it through first and we can usually find something that fits around your week.
How do I get started?
When you are ready, reach out and we will start with a short conversation, so we can both work out whether I am the right fit for what you are after.
